Low GI Recipe Symbol
The Low GI Recipe Symbol is a guarantee that a recipe has been certified as a healthier option.
About the Low GI Recipe Symbol
The Glycemic Index Foundation has also developed the Low GI Recipe Symbol. This logo is a guarantee that the recipe is certified as a healthier option, has a low GI and low GL, and meets the International Dietary Guidelines to ensure that they are a healthier choice. Recipes are analysed using FoodWorks 7 and a custom-built GI database.
The nutrient criteria were compared with Australian Dietary Guideline recommendations, Nutrient Reference Values, Food Standards Australia and New Zealand’s Food Standards Code, Heart Foundation and Diabetes NSW & ACT and Diabetes Australia recommendations. Extensive scoping and nutritional profiling were also undertaken to develop the criteria for main meals, soups, salads and desserts.
As part of the Foundation’s commitment to make healthy choices easy for consumers, an additional ‘Diabetes Friendly’ Recipe Symbol variant has been created. If you would like to learn more about the using the Low GI Recipe Symbol or Diabetes Friendly version, please get in touch.
The fee to use the logos is dependent on the number and complexity of the recipes.

LOW GI LIVING
A low GI diet focuses on the quality of carbohydrates you eat. Good carbohydrates (or low GI carbohydrates) are more slowly digested helping keep your blood sugars stable, whereas bad carbohydrates cause your blood glucose levels to peak and crash.
